These terms apply to your use of Sweep Tax ("the service"), operated from Victoria, Australia ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you use the service on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to bind that business.
1. The service
Sweep Tax connects to Gmail mailboxes you authorise, identifies emails that appear to be receipts, invoices or tax invoices, extracts their details using automated processing including AI, files the source documents by business and category, and lets you review, edit and export the results. You can also upload receipt images and PDFs directly.
Extraction and categorisation are automated and will sometimes be wrong. You are responsible for reviewing records before relying on them.
2. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 and provide a valid email address.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in email secure.
- You may invite other people to a business. They can see and edit that business's records. You are responsible for who you invite and for removing them when appropriate.
- You must only connect mailboxes you are authorised to grant access to.
3. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the service for anything unlawful, or to process mailboxes without the owner's authority;
- attempt to access other customers' data, probe or disrupt the service, or circumvent plan caps;
- resell or provide the service to third parties except by inviting them as members of a business under your plan;
- upload malicious files or content that infringes someone else's rights;
- use automated tools to scrape the service or place unreasonable load on it.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- Plans. The Free plan costs nothing. Paid plans are billed monthly in Australian dollars at the prices on the pricing page, which include GST where applicable.
- Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you authorise recurring monthly charges to your nominated card until you cancel.
- Caps. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of emails scanned and invoices extracted and a maximum number of businesses. When an allowance is used up, scanning pauses until the 1st of the next month or until you upgrade. Allowances do not roll over.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from Settings. Your plan continues until the end of the current billing period and then reverts to Free. Records above the Free plan's limits remain viewable but no new scanning occurs beyond the Free caps.
- Refunds. We do not refund partial months you have already started, except as required by the Australian Consumer Law or other law. If the service is materially unavailable for an extended period we will, at our discretion, credit the affected period.
- Price changes. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before changing the price of a plan you are on.
- Free plan. Free plan caps are set out on the pricing page and may change with notice (currently 300 emails and 25 invoices a month).
5. No tax, legal or financial advice
Sweep Tax records and categorises expenses using labels that follow the Australian Taxation Office's individual return structure. It does not determine whether any expense is deductible, in what amount, or how it should be treated. Nothing in the service, its categories, confidence scores, reasoning text, exports or this website is tax, legal, accounting or financial advice. You and your registered tax agent or accountant are responsible for what you claim. We are not a registered tax agent.
6. Your data and intellectual property
- Your data is yours. You retain all rights in your emails, documents, uploads and extracted records. You grant us a licence to process them only as needed to provide the service, as described in the privacy policy.
- Export and deletion. You can export your records at any time and delete them, a business or your account instantly.
- Our IP. The service, its software, design and content (other than your data) are ours or our licensors'. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your business.
- Feedback. If you send us suggestions we may use them without obligation to you.
7. Availability and changes to the service
We aim for the service to be available at all times but do not guarantee it. Scans depend on Google's Gmail API, Anthropic's API and other providers, any of which may be unavailable or rate-limited. We may change or discontinue features with reasonable notice; if we discontinue the service entirely we will give at least 60 days' notice and keep exports available during that period.
8. Liability
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the extent permitted by law, and subject to the paragraph above: (a) the service is provided "as is"; (b) we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data or penalties, interest or additional tax arising from reliance on records produced by the service; and (c) our total liability to you for all claims in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and AUD $100. Where the ACL permits us to limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of re-supply.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if your payment fails and is not remedied within 14 days. On termination we will delete your data as set out in the privacy policy. Sections 5, 6, 8 and 10 survive termination.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and courts able to hear appeals from them.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and update the date at the top, and for material changes we will email you at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms.
